Expat Planner Ltd: Ronald M.S. Park

If you don't already know me, let me tell you a bit about myself and this business.

I started in the insurance profession at the age of 21 in 1964 and immediately loved what I did and the people I came into contact with. From those early days until 1985 my business was primarily in the U.S.

For another two years I was a consultant for a major financial services firm expanding into Asia.

In 1987 I relocated to Hong Kong as president of the Far East division of that firm. Because I was an expat myself, it was then that I recognized that Expats had very unique financial needs and there was very little offered to the expat community within Asia.

In 1990 Expat Planner Ltd. was born. (Initially we named the company Estate & Retirement Strategies Ltd, because that is what we did-and still do, but the name was too long!)

We wanted to offer all the planning and products an expat would need under one roof. Today we are proud to say our clients can come to us with any financial need (except the direct brokerage of stocks) and we can either provide that need ourselves or we have highly competent partners who can.

Retirement planning; estate planning; life, disability and health insurance; college fund planning; savings products; survivor needs planning are our major roles. And in conjunction with a major financial planning services firm in California, Expat Planner Ltd. provides fee based services in the area of Comprehensive Financial Planning, Retirement Planning and Asset Allocation Analysis.

I learned long ago that defensive financial planning is as important to what happens to your money goals as having a game plan in football. It is really hard to reach the goal post if you don't have some kind of game plan going. My work with executives who want control over their financial future is as exciting to me today as it was 46 years ago.

I make it a priority to keep up to date with the changes that affect our clients' goals. I hold the designations of CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) AEP (Accredited Estate Planner) CSA (Certified Senior Advisor) and am a Registered Investment Advisor, a Registered Securities Representative and a member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals.

Our company's primary office is in Hong Kong and the U.S. support office is in Laguna Niguel, California. I try to balance my time between both because I have a growing "grandfamily" in the states and they are the joy of my life.
